Surface treatment process for titanium rods!

The core of titanium rod surface treatment is to remove oxidation, remove pollution layer, improve smoothness and corrosion resistance.
Full process of titanium rod surface treatment

1.Mechanical pretreatment (mandatory)
Turning/rough grinding
Remove forging skin, cracks, and oxide skin to ensure roundness and straightness.
Sandblasting/Shot Blasting
Used for roughening surfaces or removing heat-treated black skin.

2.Chemical acid washing (key: dehydrogenation, decontamination, and oxidation)
Common acid solution: nitric acid+hydrofluoric acid (HNO ∝+HF)
Function:
Remove the oxide layer, nitride layer, and pollution layer
Unified surface color, revealing the natural metallic color
Improve the adhesion of subsequent polishing and anodizing
main points:
Strictly control concentration, temperature, and time
After pickling, it is necessary to rinse with a large amount of water and neutralize it
Prevent over corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement

3.Bright treatment (selected according to accuracy)
(1) Rough polishing/semi precision polishing
Sand belt grinding and grinding wheel grinding can improve surface uniformity.
(2) Fine polishing/mirror polishing
Mechanical polishing: up to Ra ≤ 0.8 μ m, 0.4 μ m, 0.2 μ m
Electrolytic polishing: more uniform and stress free surface

4.Passivation/Bright Annealing (Anti corrosion Strengthening)
Vacuum annealing/argon protected annealing
Stress relief, surface gloss without oxidation.
Chemical passivation
Further strengthen the oxide film and improve corrosion resistance.

5.Special surface treatment (selected as needed)
anodizing
Can be used in color (blue/black/gold, etc.) to improve the hardness and insulation of the film layer.
Coating/Spraying
Used for wear-resistant, thermal insulation, and insulation scenarios (for industrial equipment).
